In Frankfurt’s Westend district, the Fifty Five Westend office project was modernized with an extraordinary technical feat. Four state-of-the-art YANMAR heat pumps with a total weight of around 17 tons were flown by helicopter onto the 44-meter-high roof of the building.
As it was not possible to use a crane due to an underground subway tunnel below, the project team opted for a solution that is normally only used for demanding industrial applications. Thanks to precise planning and perfect cooperation between all those involved, the heavy components were placed safely and accurately within a few seconds.
